San Antonio - Home of Texan Independance

Hey ya’ll,

Sorry for the lack of updates, I seriously have not had time to do anything but work, and travel! Anyway, a really quick update …

I’m in San Antonio, Texas (3hrs drive west of Houston) for the weekend … the home of The Alamo, and the icon of Texan independance. there is a mexican festival on this weekend so it’s absolute chaos … beautiful place, the riverwalk is about as close as I could imagine a Mexican version of Venice could be (although I havent been to Venice!). there are some pics below - and yes, I’m the fat american in the pictures! (I have to undo at least two buttons on my jeans when i sit down to eat - NO KIDDING!)

Off to get some brekky peoples! Back to Pittsburgh on Sunday night, then back down to Houston the following week, and then off to New York City in early June (hopefully!)I promise to provide a full update next week when hopefully things will settle down a little!

Houston, Texas

Time: 6:22pm USA / 9:22am AUST

well, here i am in a hotel room in Houston, Texas looking outside at relatively blue skies, deep green grass and trees, and experiencing the warmest temperatures i’ve had in twelve months! 26C (79F) and 60% humidity (although it was up to 93% earlier!) is more like what I remember back home! woohoo!! landed into Houston yesterday to an absolute downpour (1.37 inches / 35mm), which was apparently an equal-record rainfall for Houston in a single day!

driving in houston also marks my first ever use of GPS navigation. it seems i take more wrong turns than ever before with it! go figure!! anyways, a few snaps i took as i wandered around the uptown/galleria area, which i will be based …
